01 / The Problem or Idea

Historical records of insurgency incidents and fatalities across Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin are scattered across PDF reports, news trackers and monthly timelines, making structured research and pattern analysis difficult.

02 / Purpose

Consolidate 831 verified incidents (2009–2026) into a fast, publicly accessible, searchable database with instant visual distributions and downloadable raw data.

03 / My Exact Role

Conducted the data sourcing, cleaning and verification across CFR, Amnesty International and timeline archives, and built the web explorer with real-time search suggestions, dynamic charts and read-only offline SQLite support.

04 / Key Decisions

  • •Powered the app with an in-browser read-only SQLite database so researchers can filter 831 records by state, attack type, year or location with zero server latency.
  • •Synchronized two live charts (Incident Types Distribution and Reported Fatalities Timeline) to update dynamically as users type or click quick-filter pills.
  • •Included one-click 'Download DB' and 'Download CSV' buttons so journalists, students and analysts can run their own queries.
